Juan Muñoz Martín
Juan Muñoz Martín (Madrid, 1929-2023) was one of the most important writers in Spanish children’s literature. He studied French Language and Literature and, except for writing (always with pen and paper), his other great passion was reading, especially the classics. Always modest and discreet, his book Fray Perico y su borrico (“Brother Perico and his donkey”) has widely sold more than a million copies in the Spanish-speaking market. Juan Muñoz published in 1982 the first adventure of El pirata Garrapata (“Pirate Mite”) in the emblematic El Barco de Vapor collection by SM. This series about the pirate has sold more than half a million copies.
